God is He says who He is when revealing Himself as “I AM” (Hebrew אֶהְיֶה .) to Moses that “I am who I am” (Exodus 3:14) . It speaks of His self existence before all things. He was, He is and He will always be “I AM”, free of any constraints, e.g. space, time and form.
Jesus in the book of John constantly referred Himself as “I AM” (ἐέγώμί) . In John 8:58 Jesus told the Israelites He is born before Abraham. He is before the very history of Israelites, and we know that He is the Creator of all things.
Agree!
BalasPadamI guess that is the best way to introduce Himself. nothing out of what we understand or know can be near to be used to describe Him.
BalasPadamHi Poh Kian,
BalasPadamShort but deep.. Based on your posts, you have explained God as in two different person.
Could you help me see the Holy Spirit involved the definition of God, as I believe you hold trinitarian stand? Maybe a scripture verse also would help. Thank you.
hey, nice one on the blog, truly He is I am...
BalasPadambut when God said I am, what He mean by I am according to that context?
you did a good job! cheers! :)
What actually does God means when He say "I AM?" Does this mean the same thing when Jesus says "I AM?"
BalasPadamhi nic
BalasPadamWhen people ask our name, i perceive we will answer naturally, "I am XXX."
"I am" is gonna to follow "name" given at birth. Yet when God was asked by Moses "who" he is, He reveals Himself as "I AM that I AM" . (Hebrew word YHVH pronounced as "Jehovah" or "Yaweh"), means "God is to be Who/what he will to be". It speaks of God's self existence, self-revelatory, sovereignty and as an absolute being.
Jesus' "I AM" found in the NT Book of John:
1) Jn 4:26 "I AM he, the one who is speaking to you."; Jn 8:24 "..Unless you believe that I AM he."; Jn 8:28 "..then you will realize that I AM he...";
2) Jn 6:35 & 48 "I AM the bread of life"; Jn 6:41 "I AM the bread that came down from heaven."; Jn 6:51 "I AM the living bread that came down from heaven."
3) Jn8:12; 9:5 "I AM the light of the World"
4) Jn 8:23 "I AM from above."
5)Jn 8:24; 13:19; 18:5: 18:8 "..I AM he."
6) Jn 8:58 "Before Abraham was,I AM."
7) Jn 10:10 "I AM the good shepherd."
8)Jn 10:36 "I AM God's son?"
9) Jn 10:38 "I AM in the Father..."
10) Jn 11:25 "I AM the resurrection and the life.."
11)14:6 :I AM the way, the truth and the life."
12) Jn 15:1 "I AM the true vine"
When Jesus speaks about "I AM" it talks about His pre-existence before all things with God the Father. It talks as well about the revelatory nature of Jesus as the Son of God, and it talks about the sovereignty of Who He is as the creator and giver of Life. It says about Him as an absolute being too.
This is what i understand.

BalasPadamAccording to the 'Apostle's Creed', God is the Maker of heaven & earth, creator of ALL things.
BalasPadamFrom some Scripture: God is light, God is love, God is the Lord & Giver of life.
God is a person. When something is a 'person', he should have these 3 characteristics: rationality, emotion & volition.
Last but not least, God is the subject of ALL TRUTH.
